Does pairing infrared film and an infrared filter improve the quality?
If I use an infrared filter (hoya R72) with Infrared film (Illford SFX iso 200) together will that produce a better quality infrared photograph? I also read online somewhere that a red filter helps improve the quality.
So would the filter work just as effectively with regular B&W film? How would the film turn out without the filter? Any recommendations for better IR filter?
Infrared film when used with an infrared filter produces an image with the infrared effect. The infrared filter removes all visible light so that you get only infrared light. The "quality" of the image will decrease but you'll see foliage turn white and skies turn dark. It's a very cool effect.
If you're shooting SFX, Ilford produces an SFX filter which will produce the greatest effect. The Hoya filter has a 720nm cut off, which is fairly long. I think you'll get blank film with that filter. Try the SFX filter or use the Maco 820IR film with the same filter. The ISO is greatly reduced. The effective ISO with your R72 filter and Maco film is ASA 3.
Learn The Truth About Drinking Water Filters
There are a number of different types of water filters out there, each having a different impact on the water in order to bring purified, drinkable water to your home. Here is a look at some of the different types of drinking water filters that you can purchase in order to improve the quality of the water in your home. Some of the options that are available to you include charcoal filters, ceramic filters, distillers, reverse osmosis filters, ultraviolet filters, infrared filters, magnetic filters and ionized filters.
Filtration is the first step to restoring water to a point where it can be healthy for us. One of the simplest and most effective types of drinking water filters is carbon water. These are simple systems when it comes to installation, and they are also relatively cost effective while still covering all of the basics of filtration. They make use of a charcoal medium that is initially derived from the husks of coconuts, which is capable of absorbing impurities when the water passes through. 95 percent of all drinking water filters make use of this carbon filter material on a domestic basis. Average charcoal drinking water filters can last for as long as six to nine months.
Distillers are capable creating incredibly pure water by removing everything, even the natural minerals. Unfortunately, because the dissolved minerals in the water are more natural than water in its purest since, distillers are not the most ideal drinking water filters on the market.
Ceramic filters are cartridges that fit into normal bench top filters, using Diatomaceous Earth. Some ceramic filters also incorporate nano-silver which is impregnated into a ceramic outer shell, trapping bacteria as small as .22 of a micron, which is 1 in 100,000th of an inch. While ceramic drinking water filters offer an excellent capability in terms of purifying the water, their flow rate is generally relatively slow.
Reverse osmosis filters were originally developed for use in submarines, and the process involves drawing the water through a membrane that is extremely fine. This membrane acts like an extremely fine level filter in order to take contaminated water and turn it into drinkable water, and it was ideal for converting salt water into fresh. Reverse osmosis drinking water filters are generally relatively slow, but they work well for what they are. The downside here is that the minerals are also removed from the water, and drinking water without these necessarily minerals can create health problems.
Ultraviolet radiation systems use high frequency light through a glass element in order to irradiate water. When water passes through the glass element, the light kills any living organisms into the water that is exposed to it. These are common systems in third world hotels and homes because there is a higher potential risk of serious disease from the local water, and they are less common in countries like the United States.
There are a wide variety of different drinking water filter systems out there including small household systems and larger industrial style systems. Most of the small home filter systems are carbon based and have filters with small capacities. There is a lot of information out there regarding drinking water filters, so doing your research will help you get the best results.

This filter makes it possible for you to see images that are normally invisible to the human eye. It sounds like science-fiction but it isn't; this fantastic new product has been developed using the most highly advanced optical technologies available. This filter will filter out 99% of light seen by the naked eye only allowing infrared light through so that technically the naked eye can see 100% black when the filter is in place. Multi-coating prevents light reflection, ghost light...etc, making images clearer and sharper. On your digital camcorder, turn the "Nightshot" function on - the naked eye cannot pick up the high contrast black, so with the infrared filter and Nightshot combination, for example, it will help you see in the images provided, that we 'accidentally' spilt some permanent ink on this document and the text is now impossible to read. However, when we attached the filter to our Sony 'TR250PK' camcorder, the writing is clearly legible through the ink - thus the x-ray effect! You will be amazed with the power if you take the time to experiment and experience its capabilities for yourself. If you already have a digital camcorder with the Nightshot feature and are interested in experimenting with the X-Ray effect, this is by far the least expensive method, giving you the results you are looking for. Just screw on the filter, switch on the 'Night' feature, and you are ready to go! Features

Infrared photography was only used in film cameras in the past, but despite having an IR blocking filter installed between the lens and the Digital Camera's Sensor, most digital cameras can still react to infrared energy, though at levels far lower than visible light. To take "infrared" pictures - i.e., photos primarily made up of near infrared energy - you need to filter out the visible light and only allow the infrared spectrum through to the lens. The easiest way to do this is to use an infrared filter. Features
